What’s the difference: In-app messaging vs. push notifications
Push notifications appear on the user's home screen, also called the notification panel, rather than within the app interface, as in-app messages do.
This makes push notifications an effective way to communicate with users who aren’t currently active in the app. By contrast, in-app messages appear exclusively within the app interface while the user is active.
In-app messaging adds a range of conversational functionalities, such as announcements, operational messages, transactional messages, or customer loyalty program notifications, to users already active inside your app. By contrast, push notifications occur entirely outside the app interface and are used to send alerts and entice users to return to your app.
